Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder produces solid full lockup on all 6 chambers with a smooth—and rather light—double action trigger pull, the single action pull is feather light and crisp. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, thorough and consistent cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This revolver includes a serial-matching blue Colt factory snap case and its manual.
Our Assessment: While it certainly apes the timeless aesthetic of the king serpent Python, the King Cobra on offer here is based not upon a snake but rather a Trooper—the venerable Trooper MK V. The King Cobra is improved, however, with the addition of a heavier-duty barrel, full barrel length underlug, and a thicker, solid rib over the barrel. The history of the King Cobra is nothing if not serpentine. It was introduced in ‘86, discontinued in ‘92, returned to the line in ‘94, dropped again in ‘98, and was not reintroduced again until 2019 as a .357 Magnum, 3” barrel variant of the 2017 Colt Cobra. Please take notes, there will be a test should you win this handsome revolver! This example has a 4 1/4” barrel and is well-appointed with the Altamont rosewood grips. She’s a beauty, so good luck and happy bidding!
