Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “FREEDOM ARMS MODEL 1997 .22 LR / *FREEDOM, WYOMING U.S.A.*”. The left side of the frame is marked “Q 0169”. The bottom of the frame is marked “PATENTED”. The rear face of the cylinder is marked “Q 0169”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade set on a base that is fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable square notch sight screwed to the topstrap. Also included is a rail for optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are smooth wood. There are a few little scuffs on the left panel down towards the bottom. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Fine Plus condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some draglines from use and storage, most noticeable on the cylinder. There are a few little scuffs. There are a couple of light marks on the bottom of the barrel from contact with the ejector rod tab. There is a faint turn line on the cylinder. The screwheads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup is solid with NO play. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a rail for optics and a serial matching blue box with paperwork including a manual and test target.
Our Assessment: Freedom Arms makes what are probably the highest quality single-action revolvers in the world, and this single action Model 1997 revolver is no exception. The action and trigger pull are exceptional. The lockup is solid with no movement. The stainless finish with the unfluted cylinder is very appealing to the eye as well as functional in being nearly impervious to the elements. This example has a 5 1/2? barrel, adjustable sights and is chambered for the beloved .22 LR cartridge. Paired with Freedom Arms’ quality, this is a really nice package for the handgun hunter, outdoorsman, or Freedom Arms fan. Please see our photos and good luck!
