Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “SIG SAUER P229”. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number “AM 104 935”, “DE” and “SIG SAUER INC.EXETER – NH / FRAME MADE IN GERMANY – SAUER” and the Sig Sauer logo. The right side of the barrel visible through the ejection port is marked “9mm Para”. The left grip panel is marked “P229” and the right is marked &ldqAuo;SIG SAUER”. The right side of the front and rear sight is marked “AH” and “MH3”.

Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium lamp dovetailed into the slide. The rear sight is a square-notch with two tritium lamps that is dovetailed into the slide. The lamps hold a dim glow in low light levels.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece textured black synthetic panels that wrap around the backstrap. The front strap is serrated. There is discoloration in the texturing on the right panel, as well as some on the left panel and in the serrations. There are minor marks along the smooth borders. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp and there is no erosion, there is some stubborn fouling in the grooves.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some light marks throughout the slide. There are a few minor marks along the leading edges of the frame. All screws are sharp, pins are unmarred, and all markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Fine-Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The single action is light and crisp, and the double action is smooth. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This pistol comes in a blue Sig Sauer hard case with a serial matching label, a manual, and three 13-round magazines. Please note, no magazines will be included where prohibited by law.
Our Assessment: Introduced in 1992, the P229 is an upgrade to the P228 being an identical compact firearm often used for duty or concealed carry purposes. Developed specifically for the US market and assembled with both German and US-made parts, the P229 features a heavier slide to tolerate more powerful rounds the P228 is incapable of. The standard version features a DA/SA trigger. This pistol is very clean, in about Fine-Plus condition and comes with the aforementioned hard case with three magazines and a manual.
