Our Assessment: This is a “New Model” Marlin Model 1895CB lever action rifle made with a 26” octagon barrel and full length magazine tube. The original Model 1895 rifle ceased production in 1915, and was upgraded and brought back into production in 1972. The barrel is chambered in .45-70 Govt. and has Ballard rifling, which produces tighter groups with lead bullets than Marlin’s Micro-Groove rifling. The rifle is in about Near Mint condition with only some minor imperfections on its surfaces. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. This rifle is perfect for elk or black bear hunting and its fast lever action will give you a quick 2nd shot on running game if you need it. With its long barrel offering a long sight radius for improved accuracy, the rifle is also a good choice for SASS Lever Action Rifle Long Range side matches. Please see our photos and good luck!
