28 Gauge Barrel Set Installed: 7 lb., 1.7 oz.

.410 Bore Barrel Set Installed: 7 lb., 5.1 oz.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered walnut with semi-beavertail forends, straight comb, capped pistol grip and solid orange-brown rubber Kick-Eez buttpad. The buttstock has a repaired chip-loss at the toe with a smaller chip filled in right next to the repaired loss. Otherwise, the only notable wear on the buttstock is a shallow compression in the left of the wrist below the top-front checkering. Each of the forends have only a few scattered minor nicks, scuffs and scratches. The forends have no chips or cracks. The checkering is well defined, generally sharp. The LOP measures 14 1/4? from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad, 13 1/2? to the back of the wood. The drop at comb is approximately 1 1/2?, drop at heel 2 3/8?, consistent across all three barrel sets. The cast is about neutral. The pad is still supple with light wear. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine condition as repaired.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original, there is a patch of cold-blue touch-up on the top 20 gauge barrel on the left side near the muzzle.

Bore Condition: The bores are mostly bright. There is no erosion in the bores, but some have infrequent stubborn fouling.

Overall Condition: This shotgun set retains about 96% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at some edges, most notable on the raised pattern of the grip cap. The 20 gauge top barrel has a patch of scraping on the left near the muzzle which has been touched-up with cold blue and there are nicks in the edge of the rib above this. The right side of the top barrel has a nick and a patch of light scuffing a few inches back from the muzzle. Each of the other barrel sets have a few minor marks on the sides of their top barrel toward the chamber-end. There are some light marks on the edges of the trigger guard. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun set is in Fine-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly with each barrel set, including ejectors. All barrels lock up to the receiver with no play. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This three gauge set comes in a black synthetic hard-sided case with storage compartments for the three barrel sets, the stocked receiver and a compartment for accessories (currently only holding a cloth rag). The case shows scattered light storage wear on the exterior with wear on the interior from the contents.

Our Assessment: The iconic Model 101 is a shotgun with legendary styling, handling and the unquestionable reliability you expect from Winchester firearms. Much like Browning with their Citori line, Winchester found a Japanese firm which was capable of manufacturing durable, high quality, and beautiful guns. The engraving pattern on the Kodensha made Model 101 is even somewhat similar to that of the Miroku made Citoris. This shotgun is a 3 Gauge Skeet set, with three barrel sets chambered for 20 ga, 28 ga, and .410 bore, respectively. Each barrel set features brass bead sights on its 28″ vent-rib barrels, jeweled ejectors and all of the barrels are choked Skeet. The gun has a mechanically set single selective trigger and is quite consistent across the barrel sets with the same drop and only about three and a half ounces of variance in its weight with the different barrels installed. The gun comes with a case for storage and transport. In Fine-plus condition with signs of light and responsible use, this will be a great skeet gun for the lucky winner which allows the use of three different shells to challenge yourself on the fields. Please see our photos and good luck!
