Markings: There is no visible import mark. The top of the receiver is marked “42” and “1939”. The left side of the receiver is marked with a Nazi “eagle / swastika”, with the serial number, and “Mod. 98”. The serial number has been restamped. The right side of the receiver is marked with 2 “eagle / 63” inspection stamps and an “eagle / 655” inspection stamp. The left side of the barrel shank is marked with a Nazi “eagle / swastika” and with 2 “eagle / WaA63” inspection stamps. The right side of the rear sight base is marked with 3 “eagle / WaA63” Waffenamts. The nosecap is marked with an “eagle / WaA655” Waffenamt. The rear of the buttplate is marked with an “eagle / WaA63” Waffenamt. The bolt assembly and several other metal parts are marked with numbers that do not correlate to the serial number and/or “eagle” inspection stamps. The left side of the butt is marked “73” in paint. There are a few other small stampings on the rifle.
The base of the Model 1884/98 Type III bayonet is marked “Coppel G.m.b.H.” on one side and “8212 / j” on the other. The left rear of the grip is marked with 2 “eagle WaA255” Waffenamts. The cross piece is marked “0.29723 K”. The top front of the scabbard is marked “9432”.
Barrel Length: Approximately 23 ¾ Inches
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a small ramped base. The rear sight is a “V” notched blade attached to a sliding escalator assembly marked from “1-20”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, scallop for the bolt handle, nose cap with bayonet lug, hole for the included cleaning rod, barrel band, 2 sling loops, through bolt, slingwell, sling pass through, domed washer, and a metal buttplate. The buttplate shows scratches and surface erosion. The right side of the stock shows an edge crack just below the front of the receiver. The crack flexes when pressure is applied. The wood shows numerous scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Several have damaged small portions of the surface wood. The LOP measures 13 inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The muzzle & grooves are dark and the rifling is deep. There is erosion throughout the bore. The erosion is more prominent in the grooves and at the muzzle.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 30% of its metal finish. The metal shows scrapes, small scratches, and thinning. The thinned portions of the metal show discoloration from oxidation. The bottom metal shows deep scratches and small dents. The screw heads show heavy use. Most of the markings are deep; some are faded. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes with a Model 1884/98 Type III bayonet, scabbard and belt frog. The bayonet & scabbard show scrapes, discoloration from oxidation and surface erosion. The scabbard also shows a few small shallow dents. The bayonet is in Very Good condition. The scabbard is in Good condition. The belt frog shows scrapes, discoloration and surface cracks. One crack is on the edge and has formed a small tear. It is in Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: This WWII Nazi marked German K98 was made at the Mauser Oberndorf factory in Germany back in 1939. The rifle has since been rebuilt. The rifle has good markings on the metal that include Nazi “eagles” & “swastikas”. Most of the markings are clearly visible. The rifle comes with a Model 1884/98 Type III bayonet, scabbard & belt frog. This Nazi marked K98 will add to your WWII collection.
