Our Assessment: This is a very rare and collectible set of Colts. Only 1000 of these sets were manufactured in 1986 and this is set number 666, if not an auspicious number, certainly an interesting one. The set was made for Colts 150th anniversary and is comprised of a 6″ Python and an Officers ACP compact 1911. The handguns both have a bright polished stainless finish, special double diamond markings, and smooth rosewood grips. For the Python collector, the Double Diamond is distinguished not only by its Ultimate Stainless Steel finish and rosewood grips, but also as one of the few examples which shipped with silver colored medallions rather than gold. These handguns both look to have seen little, if any actual use and look great, especially when in their display case. They represent great value, and their stainless steel finish will probably still be looking bright and shiny decades from now. This is a can’t miss opportunity for the dedicated Colt collectors. Please see our photos and good luck!
