Our Assessment: This Swedish Mauser is a Model 1938 Short Rifle. It was made by Husqvarna back in 1943. It was originally made in M38 configuration. It is not a cut down & converted M96 (Model 1896/38) as many are. It looks pretty good for being almost 80 years old. The markings are deep and include matching part numbers on the receiver & bolt assembly. The rifle is chambered for the flat shooting 6.5×55 cartridge. It should keep you smiling at the range. Good luck.
