Our Assessment: This reproduction of the Fusil de Chasse is a .61 caliber muzzle-loaded flintlock musket. The original Fusil de Chasse was a French musket which was designed for hunting in the late 17th century. It was distributed by the French to their American Indian allies during the Seven Years War. The muskets were produced at a number of arsenals in France and would continue to see service until the 19th century. It made for a versatile arm which was suitable for both combat and hunting, even sometimes used as a shotgun for hunting fowl. This is a fun musket that black-powder enthusiasts will not want to miss out on!
