Markings: The left side of the shank is marked “USE ONLY / .22-250 REM.”. The right side of the chamber ring is marked with the serial number “VS235988”. The left side of the receiver is marked “VANGUARD®”, “by Weatherby”, and “ATASCADERO CALIF. MADE IN JAPAN”. The bottom of the bolt handle is serial-matching, hand-scribed “988”. The buttpad is marked “Weatherby”.

Sights/Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. Equipped to the top of the receiver via two rings and a two piece rail system is a Bushnell High Contrast scope with a Duplex reticle and 6-18x magnification. The scope shows only some minor white scuffs on the knob caps but no major imperfections. The lenses are clear. Overall, the scope rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The stock is one-piece hand-laminated Monte Carlo composite with a beavertail forearm and vents to dissipate heat, semi-pistol grip, cheek-piece, and a Decelerator black rubber buttpad. There is a light scratch near the toe and one on the left side just below the receiver. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/8” & 12 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad and stock respectively. The pad is soft and shows some light rubs and marks. Overall, the stock is in Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are scant handling marks, but otherwise this rifle is free of any additional notable wear or damage. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This rifle comes with the previously mentioned scope and a black canvas zip-up soft case.
Our Assessment: A “minute of angle” is a technical term used to describe how far from the point of aim a bullet deviates after being fired. It can be boiled down to landing your shots within a 1 inch circle. This 1 inch circle at 100 yards is the gold standard for “accurate” rifles, and firearms that can perform this feat are highly prized. Weatherby produces a modified version of their Vanguard line of firearms branded as “SUB-MOA” that can accomplish this feat straight out of the box, which is what we have here. This Vanguard Series 2 H-BAR RC Sub-MOA is in beautiful condition with 98% of its metal finish remaining. The bore is bright and clean and it comes equipped with a Bushnell scope that is in Fine-Excellent condition to get you started.
