Markings: The right side of the slide on all three pistols is marked with a banner reading “1917 / WORLD WAR I COMMEMORATIVE / 1967” and “COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.”. The chamber on all three pistols is marked “COLT .45 AUTO” and also has a “VP” proof. The right side of the frame on all three pistols is marked with the serial number.
01: The left side of the slide is engraved with a scene of American soldiers attacking Germans barricaded behind pillboxes and at the rear with the Rampant Colt logo.
02: The left side of the slide is engraved with a battle scene in the woods and at the rear with the Rampant Colt logo.
03: The left side of the slide is engraved with a scene of a machine gun crew with a town in the background and at the rear with the Rampant Colt logo.

Sights / Optics: The front sights are short blades fixed to the slide and the rear sights are square notched and dovetailed into the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The left grip on each pistol has a medallion of an American eagle marked “1917*1918 / World War”. The right grip is marked with a medallion of an American soldier, and marked “U.S.A. / THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION” and with the names of our allies.
01: This pistol has a rectangular plaque on the left grip marked “MEUSE ARGONNE”. The grips are smooth walnut and show a few spots of stubborn residue on the right panel. This pair rates in about Excellent condition assuming the residue cleans off.
02: This pistol has a rectangular plaque on the left grip marked “BELLEAU WOOD”. The grips are smooth walnut and show some light scuffs. There is a ding into the wood on the front edge of the left panel. This pair rates in about Fine condition.
03: This pistol has a rectangular plaque on the left grip marked “CHATEAU THIERRY”. The grips are checkered walnut. There are light handling marks and the checkering is sharp. This pair rates in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright and the rifling sharp. There is no erosion. These pistols do not appear to have been shot outside the factory.
Overall Condition: 01: This pistol retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some scattered light handling marks. The front sight has little nicks and dings through the finish. There are a few light marks on the front strap. There is some light wear on the top edges of the rear sight. There are some little nicks into the finish on the bottom of the trigger guard and dust cover. There is standard operational wear. The screwheads are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine condition.
02: This pistol retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are little nicks and dings through the finish on the front strap. There are some scuffs and marks through the finish on the dust cover. There are a few scattered light marks and draglines. There is standard operational wear. The screwheads are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine condition.
03: This pistol retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are dings into the rear sight. There are dings into the metal on the front sight. There are a couple of little nicks on the frontstrap. There are a few scattered light scuffs and rubs from use and handling. There is some light wear on the bottom edge of the mainspring housing. The screwheads are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The actions function correctly. We did not fire these pistols. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be required to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Each pistol has a single 7-round magazine. Also included are Chateau Theirry and Meuse Argonne display cases.
Our Assessment: These pistols are beautiful Colt Government Model 1911 pistols with high luster blued finishes and with gold-filled engraving. They also have custom grips with WWI medallions and the name of the battle that particular pistol commemorates. The pistols are in Fine condition and each have a few scattered marks. They commemorate major battles our soldiers fought in World War I, the “War To End All Wars”. These pistols each come with a magazine and two are included with a display case. This set is a nice find for the Colt collector and for collectors of WWI weaponry. Please see our photos and good luck!
