Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 1892 made in 1924 and chambered in .25-20 Winchester. This rifle is in Fine condition with about 97% of its re-done finish remaining. The bore is semi-bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. The lever locks up solidly and the action functions correctly. Any wear suffered by this rifle has been obscured by re-finishing. The .25-20 Win. cartridge was based on necking down the .32-20 cartridge and was intended for small game and varmints, developing about 1460 fps. with 86 grain bullets. It was once a favorite with farmers, ranchers, pot hunters and trappers. Given its pre-WWII manufacture date, this rifle should be of real interest to the Winchester collectors.
