There is infrequent scattered minor erosion under the finish with more notable erosion and pitting under the finish on the frame which is concealed by the grips when they are installed. The screw head is sharp. The markings range from clear to worn, but legible. Overall, this pistol is in Very Good-plus condition as refinished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrel extension has barely perceptible play to the frame. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a reproduction wood stock/holster. The holster has a crack at the hinge assembly, a filled knot-hole below this and has some sort of adhesive or filling compound around the mounting bracket. The metal parts show scattered wear in their black paint finish.
Our Assessment: The Broomhandle Model 1896 Mauser is certainly an interesting looking firearm, and this is a fairly early-production Model 1930, an updated design of the original C96 made in the inter-war years. Chambered for .30 Mauser, this is a nicely restored example with a deep blue finish on the barrel and frame assemblies, the bolt left in the white, and fire-blue on the trigger, safety, extractor, bolt stop and sight slider. It looks quite good for display or addition to a collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
