Markings: The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / * * * * MOD. 1895CB CAL. 45/70 GOVT. * * * *” and is marked with the “JM” proof at the receiver. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked with Marlin’s two-lined warning. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number.
Barrel Length: 26″, Octagonal
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a tall brass beaded blade that is dovetailed to the top of the receiver. The rear sight is a semi-buckhorn elevator sight with a reversible V/U-notched leaf that has a white diamond aim guide and is dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped in four places for mounting a scope (not included).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with a capped forearm, straight grip, straight comb, checkered black hard rubber Marlin buttplate, and Marlin “bullseye” in the belly. There are some scratches on the belly near the toe and a couple faint ones on the sides. The forearm has a dragline and white scratch on the right side at the front. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate shows light wear at the heel and a white scratch on the right side. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine-Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. There is light oxidation on the top and bottom of the receiver and some on the lever. The mag tub has a couple minor dings and a light scratch. The action shows faint operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fine-Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly. The lever safety is present and functions properly. The receiver also contains a push safety that blocks the hammer from hitting the pin. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
