Markings: The left side of the frame is marked “6174”. The top strap is marked “A. P. WALSHE / KIMBERLY / & JOHANNESBERG”. The top of the barrel is marked “CAL 450”. There is a British proof at the rear of each chamber on the cylinder. There are two obscure British proofs on the left side of the barrel. There is a British proof on the right side of the frame.

Barrel Length: 3”

Sights / Optics: This revolver is mounted with a fixed front blade. The rear sight is a notch in the rear of the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is one piece checkered wood that envelops the back strap. The grip shows compressions,scratches, and nicks on the smooth borders. There is a small amount of material loss on the front right edge. The checkering shows moderate wear with some interruptions and is well defined. The grip rates in about Very Good-Fine overall condition as Antique.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is somewhat bright and the rifling is well defined. There is scattered light erosion and some light fouling in the bore .

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 30% of its metal finish. There are several nicks, impacts, and dings throughout the metal. Most of the remaining finish is on the cylinder and sides of the frame. There is scattered light surface oxidation and some faint pitting throughout. The screw heads range from sharp to slightly disfigured with serviceable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Very Good condition as Antique.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lock up produces hardly any play when the trigger is depressed. The double action pull is a bit heavy and the single action is crisp. We did not fire this revolver. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a Webley R.I.C. style double-action revolver sold by A.P.Walshe Kimberley & Johannesburg in South Africa.
