Markings: The left side of the frame is marked “5775”. The cylinder is marked with a Birmingham proof behind each chamber. The front face of the cylinder is marked “509” and with a Birmingham proof. The top strap is marked “G.H.DAW 57 THREADNEEDLE ST. LONDON”. There are two proofs on the left shoulder of the barrel.

Barrel Length: 5” Octagonal

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a post at the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a V-notch at the rear of the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood panels. There is some light material loss at the top front edge of the right panel. There is a notable spot of compressed checkers on the left panel. There are some other light nicks throughout the panels. There are no cracks. The panels rate in about Very Good-Fine condition as Antique.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is dark and the rifling is deep. There is erosion and pitting in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 10% of its metal finish. Faint bluing remains in protected areas. The surfaces show a light patina with scattered light pitting. There are nicks, dings and scratches throughout. The screw heads are slightly disfigured yet serviceable. The markings are legible. Overall, this handgun rates in about Good condition as Antique.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. However, the cylinder can manually be rotated out of position when the trigger is depressed. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This revolver is from G. H. Daw of London and is like that of an early solid frame Webley design. The revolver features a compound lever lever ejector, which is operated by a downward motion of the large lever alongside the barrel. This revolver is in about Good condition as Antique with functioning mechanics. Please see our photos and good luck!
