Our Assessment: Colt’s 1911 served the United States military through two World Wars and several other conflicts, is still in use by some units today, and has become popular with law enforcement, competitors, and recreational shooters across the nation. The design has seen some updates including a firing-pin block safety, higher-profile sights, and more ergonomic grips, but the basic design and fantastic trigger remain the same after more than a century. This is an example of the 1911 which was made by Colt as an exclusive limited edition for Talo Distributor’s Inc and has Lisa Tomlin engraving. Lisa’s unique design embellishes a Colt series 70, Model O, stainless, 5 inch, .45 ACP. She cites the Ken Hurst influence in the very distinct American bank note style scroll that exhibits a combination of Italian and Germanic influences. Her design is elaborately displayed over most of the firearm. The slide sides and top are polished and detailed with deep etch scroll and then black filled. The frame is bright polished and deep etched and black filled. Bright polished parts include the hammer, slide stop, mag catch, mag catch lock and barrel bushing, thumb safety, 3 pins, grip screws and plunger tube. The unique grips reflect the overall design with stainless polished hex style grip screws. With its original accessories and with only 400 made, this is a great addition to a Colt or 1911 collection.
