Markings: The serial number is marked on the right side of the frame. The left side of the slide is engraved with “PEARL HARBOR . CORAL SEA . CORREGIDOR / GUADALCANAL . TARAWA . SAIPAN . LEYTE GULF . IWO JIMA . OKINAWA . TOKYO” bordered with palm leaves and with palm leaves at the rear of the slide. The right side of the slide is engraved with “WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE / PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS” bordered with palm leaves and with palm leaves at the rear of the slide. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT .45 AUTO” and with “VP” in triangle proof. The left side of the dust cover is marked “COLT’S PT. FA. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a short blade fixed to the slide and the rear sight is a square notch dovetailed into the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth walnut panels with gold colored Colt medallions in their centers. The grips have a couple of scattered light compressions and handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some light draglines from use and storage. There are a few little tiny cloudy spots scattered over the surfaces. There are one or two little hairline scratches, most noticeable on the right of the slide in front of the dust cover. There are a few little spots of frost, most noticeable on the front strap. There are some scattered light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Fine-plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a single Colt 7-round magazine.
Our Assessment: This pistol is a beautiful Colt Government Model 1911A1 pistol with a nickel finish and with engraving commemorating some of the most pivotal battles in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WWII. The pistol is in Fine-plus condition with about 97% of its finish, a bright bore, little sign of use, and comes with one Colt magazine. For the Colt 1911 collector, maybe even any Colt collector, this would make a great addition to a collection. This is an amazing tribute to the contribution America has made to keep the world free.
