Gauge: This shotgun comes with one 28 Gauge Barrel set for 2 ¾ inch shells; and one 20 gauge barrel set for 3 inch shells.

Markings: The receiver is scroll engraved and there is one gold duck on each side. The underside of the receiver is marked “DUCKS UNLIMITED” with the Ducks Unlimited logo. The forend cut on the receiver is marked “98 DU 005”. The bottom of the trigger guard is scroll engraved. The left side of the upper barrel of the 20 gauge barrel set is marked “MODEL 685 20 GA 3” CHAMBER PROOF TESTED / MADE BY NEW SKB ARMS COMPANY JAPAN”. The left side of the lower barrel is marked “G.U. INC., OMAHA, NE” followed by some proof marks. The underside of the lower chamber is marked “2 / D08C 98DU005 / NP”. The forend hardware is marked “98DU005”. In regards to the 28 Ga. Barrel set, the left side of the barrel is marked “MODEL 685 28 GA 2 ¾” CHAMBER PROOF TESTED / MADE BY NEW SKB ARMS COMPANY JAPAN”. The left side of the lower barrel is marked “G.U. INC., OMAHA, NE”. The underside of the lower chamber is marked “U / 2 / D88C / 98 DU 005 / N”. The forend hardware is marked “98 DU 005”.
Barrel Length: Each Barrel Set Measures 28”
Choke: The 28 Gauge barrel is choked Modified over Improved. Two additional Skeet chokes are included in the case. The 20 Gauge Barrel is choked Modified over Improved with two additional Skeet chokes included.
Sights / Optics: Both barrel sets have a full length ventilated rib with a mid-rib silver bead. The 20 gauge barrel is missing the plastic bead at the front. The 28 gauge barrel retains the bead.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The buttstock is glossy checkered hardwood with beautiful grain. The checkering is mostly sharp and there are only a few scattered compression and handling marks. The 20 gauge forend has a tiny compression mark on the left ridge and a few marks around the forend latch. The drop at heel measures 2”. The drop at comb measures “1 ½”. The LOP measures 14 ¼” from the front of the trigger to the back of the solid rubber SKB butt pad. The pistol grip cap is of a different darker wood. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98+% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows only one tiny nick on the right side of the lower barrel of the 28 gauge barrel set. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The ejectors work as they should. We have not fired this shotgun.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun set comes with an owner’s manual, exploded parts diagram, and a registration card. There are two skeet chokes included for each barrel set. A choke tube wrench and two keys to the case are included. The green cloth case has simulated leather corners and a green felt interior. The interior is in Fine condition with no visible stains or tears. The exterior of the case near the handle is marked lightly with permanent marker “685 / SKB” The exterior of the case only shows light handling wear and rates in Fine condition
Our Assessment: This SKB is in excellent condition. It is the 685 2 barrel set. This is #5 of 200 Ducks Unlimited gun including both 20 gauge and 28 gauge barrels. It features very nice gloss finish wood furniture, blued barrels and silver nitrate receiver with light scrollwork and a gold duck. It is a single selective trigger gun with both sets of barrels being 28 inches. It includes a green cloth and leather felt lined case and two skeet chokes per barrel set. This is a really great kit and would be tons of fun for the confident skeet shooter. This had people in our shop turning their heads because of the classy case and beautiful contents. You will be very happy with this shotgun set.
