Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “DELTA ELITE / -COLT AUTO-” with “10mm” in triangle, the right is marked “COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL / -10mm/SEMI-AUTO-”. The left of the trigger guard bow is marked “A” and “VP” in triangle. The right of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” with the serial number. The barrel is marked “-CAL. 10MM AUTO-”.

Barrel Length: 5”, 6 3/4″ to Swaged Muzzle Brake.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a recessed white dot and is dovetailed into slide. The rear sight is Novaks lo-mount square notch sight with two recessed white dots that is dovetailed into the slide. The top of the slide has a matte finish.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a one-piece Hogue wraparound textured black rubber grip with finger grooves. The grips have some minor scuffs and light handling marks. There are no rips or tears. The grips rate in about Fine Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 93% of its metal finish. There are some scattered little nicks and hairline scratches. There are some scattered scuffs and rubs that have caused smooth spots. There are some spots of discoloration from previous oxidation on the custom swaged muzzle brake. There is a takedown arc on the left side of the frame. There are light handling marks and standard operational wear. The screw heads are sharp, the pinheads are unmarred. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. A custom swaged muzzle brake has been installed. Custom parts have been installed including an ambidextrous magazine release, ambidextrous safety, and a checkered mainspring housing with extended magazine well. The trigger is crisp. The slide has very little play to the frame. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included are a serial matching case, paperwork including the manual, original grips in Excellent condition, and one magazine.

Our Assessment: The Delta Elite was introduced in 1987 as a 10mm version of the 1911. The 1911 already had a following, of course, while the cartridge was popular as a result of Jeff Cooper’s involvement in its development and use in the Bren-10. It has remained popular with fans of the 1911 and the 10mm cartridge ever since. This example is the Delta Elite and has some custom modifications including a swaged compensator, ambidextrous magazine release, ambidextrous safety, and a checkered mainspring housing with extended magazine well. It retains the vast majority of its finish and comes with a serial matching case. It would make a fine hunting sidearm or target shooting handgun. Please see our photos and good luck!
