Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks up with minor play with the trigger depressed. The single action is crisp, and the double action is smooth and rather light. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This Redhawk includes the Aimpoint laser sight mentioned above, a custom leather belt and holster made by Tex Shoemaker, two (2) batteries, the original rear sight assembly, and the manual. Also included is a certificate of authenticity from Aimpoint along several items of ephemera including a reprint from American Shotgunner magazine detailing the winners of the 1983 Bianchi Cup, and a the September/October 1984 issue of American Handgunner magazine with an advertisement for the Aimpoint special edition on offer here.

Our Assessment: On offer here is a Special Edition Ruger Redhawk from Aimpoint that features what was at the time a very popular Aimpoint Advantage Mark III laser sight. This would have been a helluva shooter then, and certainly the Redhawk itself is as wonderful as ever. The Redhawk is a beast, and very little elaboration is needed. What is truly fascinating about this package is the way in which it is a time capsule for a time that is seemingly gone. The included magazine and magazine reprint detail the exploits and results of shooting competitions held here in California, and to thumb through the magazine is truly a journey into the past. Should the winner choose to, the Redhawk can be returned to its original state, as the factory rear sight is included. Only 1000 of these packages were made, and this one has a very low number, #141, and is near Excellent condition overall, with the included belt and holster appearing to have never been used. Either as a slice of firearm history, or as a good Redhawk get, collectors will treasure this set should they win it. Good luck and happy bidding!
