Sights/Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed into a ramped base that is integral to the barrel. The rear sight is a flip-up u-notch dovetailed into the barrel boss. The receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled with two-piece weaver rails that have attached Weaver K4 scope with a crosshair reticle. The scope body has light nicks throughout, a bit of thinning on the edges, the glass is fairly clear, and overall, the scope rates in Very Good condition.

There are sling swivels on the belly of the buttstock and the underside of the forend. Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is well-defined. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: The rifle retains about 90% of its finish. The receiver has scattered light surface oxidation and a bit of light thinning on the edges. The barrel has scattered minor marks including a cluster of light scuffs on the top and some minor finish loss at the barrel tip. The markings are clear. The screwheads are sharp. Overall, the rifle is in Very Good-to-Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box Paperwork and Accessories: The scope as described above and a brown leather sling.

Our Assessment: This is a lovely Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 rifle made in 1939. It has a 24” barrel chambered in the fairly uncommon .250-3000 Savage, making it ideal for hunting most game up to deer. It is equipped with iron sights and a Weaver scope. The rifle is in Very Good-to-Fine condition with wear in the metal and wear in the stock consistent with use in the field. The bore is decent and the mechanics are strong. Good luck and happy bidding!
