Markings: The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “1894 LIMITED EDITION”, “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. ILION. NEW YORK, U.S.A. / ***MODEL 1894 CAL. 45 COLT LIMITED EDITION 1 OF 1500***” and at the rear with an “A” in a triangle and “BL”. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked “REP” in an oval. The left side of the receiver is marked with a QR code and the serial number. The top of the bolt is marked “45”. Both sides of the receiver have decorative borders and floral scroll engraving. The left side of the receiver has a 24 karat gold inlay of the Marlin horseback rider logo.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a semi-buckhorn elevator sight with a reversible V/U-notch leaf with a white diamond aim guide that is dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled in four places for mounting an optic (not included).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, Marlin bullseye in the belly, and a black checkered Marlin buttplate. There are no notable imperfections. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate, which shows no perceptible wear. Overall, the stocks rate in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling sharp. There is what appears to be extremely faint erosion mid bore but may actually prove to be stubborn fouling.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are a few faint marks on the receiver. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lever safety is present and fully functional. The receiver also contains a push safety that blocks the hammer from hitting the pin. The hammer has a half cock safety position. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Marlin 1894 is one of the stronger lever-action designs ever produced. It has been in production, with very few changes, for over a century now. The action is robust, dependable, and remarkably easy to disassemble and clean. This piece is particularly special, as it is a limited edition of which only 1,500 were made in 2017. The left side of the receiver displays a gorgeous 24 karat Gold inlay of the Marlin horseback rider. This rifle retains about 99% of its original finish, in about Excellent condition, and comes in its original serial matching box. Do yourself a favor and add this one to your collection.
