Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with a steel nosecap, straight grip, straight comb and a checkered hard rubber Marlin buttplate. The Marlin bullseye is present in the belly. The portion of the wood that was protected by the buttstock sleeve retains the normal satin finish, the other wood shows a higher gloss appearance though there are no other signs of refinishing. There is a notable compression on the left side of the forearm. There are a few other light draglines. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The buttplate checkering and lettering has smoothened from rubbing against the buttstock sleeve. The stocks rate in about Fine condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion, just some faint fouling.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 91% of its metal finish. There is thinning on the leading edges. There is a small amount of oxidation on the bottom of the magazine tube and forearm band. There are scattered nicks and scratches throughout the receiver and a small amount of erosion on the left side. There is standard operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The crossbolt safety is present, but will not go into the safe position. The lever has been short stroked and is very smooth. The lever safety has been deactivated. The trigger appears to be after market. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a leather buttstock sleeve and an installed lever sleeve.

Our Assessment: This is a Marlin Model 1894 Cowboy Limited lever action rifle made in 2009 and chambered for .45 Colt. The rifle is in about Fine condition. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. The action is smooth as butter. Both safeties have been deactivated, likely for use in cowboy action shooting and the rifle sports an aftermarket, more flattened trigger. With its short barrel, the rifle is light and easy to handle. Please see our photos and good luck!
