Our Assessment: This is a Great looking RARE commemorative pistol that hasn’t seen much, if any use. If you are a Colt collector, or a Centerfire Bullseye competitor, you want to take a very good look at this rare pistol. You may recall that the United States, as well as more than 70 other countries boycotted the 1980 Moscow Olympics, which this Colt was produced to commemorate. Thus, it is a commemorative commemorating an event that, for the U.S., did not even occur. As to the pistol, per Colt: “The Gold Cup is known as the finest shooting semi-automatic in the world, and is the standard for competitive guns. It was introduced to give competitive shooters a gun to take directly from the dealer’s showcase to the firing line.” That pretty much says it all. Please see our photos and good luck!
