Our Assessment: The Chilean Model 1895 Cavalry Carbine is shorter than a Model 1895 Short Rifle. The barrel is 3 inches shorter. The 1895 Cavalry Carbine is set up with sling loops and a saddle ring mounted on the left side of the stock. This one was made in Germany for Chile before Loewe and Company formed Deutsche Waffen-Und Munitionsfabriken (DWM). Model 1895’s made by Loewe are antiques; those made by DWM may not be as many were made by DWM after 1898. This Chilean Model 1895 Cavalry Carbine is in Very Good condition for its age and still has matching part numbers. It will add nicely to a Mauser collection. This rifle is an antique so no FFL is required…unless you live in California.
