Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “MODEL 1887”. The top of the barrel is marked “12GA 20” 2 3/4””. The left side of the receiver is marked “COYOTE CAP 1887 SPECIAL EDITION”. The top-tang is marked with the serial number “CC-05 00171”. The bottom-tang is marked “IAC BILLERICA MA / CHINA S.D. 1”.

Choke: The bore is threaded for choke tubes. There is an installed Modified choke tube.

Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a brass bead at the muzzle end of the barrel.

Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stocks are three-piece with two grip panels and a buttstock with semi-pistol grip, straight comb and checkered black plastic buttplate. The stocks have some handling wear which includes minor scratches and nicks. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP is 13.25” from the trigger to the rear end of the buttplate. The buttplate has only minor handling wear and the checkering remains sharp. Overall, the stocks are in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: The shotgun retains about 90% of its metal finish. There are some handling marks, small nicks and scratches. Notably, the tubular magazine is coated in light patches of surface oxidation. The markings remain clear. The screwheads are serviceable. Overall, the shotgun is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This SD 2 model 1887 Coyote Cap Special Edition is a 12 gauge shotgun threaded for choke tubes that is chambered for 2.75” shells. The shotgun appears to have been imported in 2005 by Interstate Arms Corp. The shotgun has some minor handling wear but it remains mechanically sound. This is a great option for cowboy action shooting and recreational target practice at the range. Good luck on your bid.
