Bore Condition: The bore is quite bright and the rifling is well-defined. There is no erosion, but there is some light stubborn fouling in the grooves.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The barrel has scattered light nicks and scuffs mainly on the underside. The cylinder has a turn line through the finish as well as intermittent minor nicks. Pins are unmarred, and all markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in Fine-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks up with minor play with the trigger depressed. The single action is crisp, and the double action is smooth. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: Two (2) Ruger rings.

Our Assessment: What we have here is 7 1/2” of unadulterated ka-blam. The Redhawk was Ruger’s first large bore double action revolver and was available in several barrel lengths and chambered for an assortment of powerful cartridges such as .357 and .44 Magnum. This example is the next iteration of the line, the Super Redhawk (Ruger still makes the original Redhawk due to its popularity) and features aspects of the .357 GP-100, but with a more robust frame. And robust it needs to be given that this example is chambered in .454 Casull (and .45 Colt, but who cares, let’s stay focused on the ka-blam), making it an ideal revolver for… pretty much whatever you want. There’s no animal on God’s green earth that will remain standing if shot with this Super Redhawk (some will be made into a fine mist—it is not recommended that you hunt rabbits with this revolver). This revolver is quite a sight in-hand with its Ruger target gray finish. It is ready for an optic with the included Ruger rings. This example is in great shape with minimal wear and a bright bore. Good luck and happy bidding!
