Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SENTINEL MK IV / CALIBER —- .22 MAGNUM”. The right side of the barrel is marked “HIGH STANDARD / SPORTING FIREARMS / HAMDEN, CONN. U.S.A.”. The right side of the frame is marked “S626”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated sloping blade that is integral to the top of the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch that is integral to the top of the slide. The top strap is matte to reduce glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth wood panels. The only notable imperfection is a little scuff on the left side panel. The left panel is slightly shy of the right panel at the back strap. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is a small spot of erosion near the muzzle.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is a small spot of finish wear on the top strap. The cylinder shows a distinct turnline. The grip screw is sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks up with barely perceptible play in single action and no play in double action. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This is a Sentinel Mark IV, 9-shot .22 magnum caliber revolver from Hi-Standard. This is a single and double action revolver with all-steel construction (aside from the guard). The barrel is 3” in length and the cylinder holds 9 rounds. This is perfect for carrying with you out in the field when you might run across a saber-toothed jackrabbit or some tasty squirrels.
