Our Assessment: Para Ordnance has been cranking out double stacked 1911’s like this since 1990 and with a wide reception from the competitive shooting circles, it has become commonplace to see 1911’s capable of carrying 14 round flush-fitting magazines, a huge step over the initial design. As per our consignor, this one was customized by gunsmith Randy Lee, although there are no receipts, the box is labeled “GUNSMITH ONLY” and is for the frame only, not a complete pistol. The gun is a full house build on a Para frame and has a Wilson Combat barrel & bushing, full-length guide rod, skeletonized hammer & trigger, Bomar target sight, memory bump beavertail safety, ambidextrous extended thumb safeties, extended magazine release, Capsian slide with angled serrations front & rear, and flared extended magazine well. The front and rear of the grip frame have been checkered and so has the bottom of the trigger, the beavertail safety has been well blended and the slide to frame fit is superb. This gun was likely built back in the day for a USPSA shooter who competed in the Limited 10 division and would make a great pistol to do so today. This would also make a fine duty, home defense, or target shooting pistol. Please see our photos and good luck!
