Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “22 M.R.F. CTG.” and the right side of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON”. The yoke cut is marked “MOD. 651”. The left side of the frame has an S&W logo and the right side of the frame has the four line Marcas Registradas address. The butt of the grip frame is marked with the serial number. There are inspection marks on the sides of the grip frame and on the yoke. The barrel flat is marked “S” and the rear face of the cylinder is marked “F”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade with a red insert, set on a ramped base that is integral to the rib. The rear sight is a square notched leaf in a click base that is adjustable for windage and elevation screwed to the top strap. The rib and rear sight base are serrated for glare reduction.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered black rubber Pachmayr Presentation grips. There are light handling marks, no major defects. The texturing is strong. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some draglines and swirls from use and storage. There are a few minor scuffs that have caused minor smooth spots. There is a turn line on the cylinder. There is light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp to lightly worn with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The single-action trigger is crisp and the double-action smooth. The cylinder lockup produces light side-to-side movement. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be required to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This is a S&W Model 651, the .22 M.R.F. Target Kit Gun Stainless. This revolver combines the small J-frame with the .22 Magnum cartridge, a 4? barrel and a stainless steel finish. While .22 Magnum is not an ideal defensive cartridge, it has energy consistent with a .380 ACP at much higher velocity and manages to fit 6-rounds in the J-frame compared with the 5-rounds of a .38 Special and will make short work of varmints. The revolver is in about Fine Plus condition with about 97% of its original metal finish remaining. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. This will be a blast to shoot and in its high condition, this is going to interest the Smith collectors too. Please see our photos and good luck!
