Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number, “Remington / MODEL XP-100”, and “SPECIAL”. The left of the chamber is marked “.221 REM. FIREBALL”. The bolt is matched and hand inscribed “6238”.

Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. The top of the receiver has three empty drilled and tapped holes, two on the chamber ring and one on the receiver bridge.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The custom wood stock is checkered with a capped pistol grip, straight comb, and black rubber buttpad. There are a few little compressions and draglines. There are light handling marks. The checkering is strong. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures approximately 13 1/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The pad has some light wear. Overall the stock is in about Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished
Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is pronounced but the edges are slightly rounded. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few scattered light marks from light handling on the bottom of the barrel. There are a few marks through the finish on the bolt handle. The screwheads show light use. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition as customized.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger pull is light and crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This pistol is a Remington XP-100 which was originally a single-shot pistol. It has since been turned into a custom bolt action rifle. This one has a 22” barrel and has provisions for mounting optics. It has a single shot receiver with no cutout for a magazine which will provide much more strength compared to a typical 700. This will make a great target shooting rifle and would also be good for varmint hunting. Please see our photos and good luck!
