Our Assessment: This is a nice Model 84 chambered in .223 Remington. Kimber originally produced the Model 82 rimfire and then started with the 84 centerfire after the success of the rimfires. Using the new Model 84 actions, Kimber specialized in making heavier-weight, small-caliber center-fires for benchrest shooting and varmint hunting. Perhaps the ultimate prairie dog gun, they were tack-driving accurate with outstanding barrels, stocks and triggers, and heavy enough to negate recoil. After the Model 84 was a success, the later large caliber Model 89 was born and they were soon overwhelmed with production demand and went through financial turmoil. They later reformed but did so in Yonkers, New York with different backers and business interests. Collectors hold the Clackamas Oregon Kimbers in high regard, after picking it up you will see why. This one has a couple defects but has a great bore and comes topped with a great scope. It should be hitting the bullseye for years to come with proper care. Please see our photos and good luck!
