CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” and with the serial number. The left of the trigger guard is marked “M” and with the “VP” verified proof.

Sights / Optics: The sights are a Trijicon night-sight set. The front sight is a blade with a single tritium lamp fixed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch with two tritium lamps, dovetailed and screw-set to the rear of the slide. The lamps have dimmed some, but are useable in very-low or no-light environments.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered black wood with silver-colored colt medallions in the middle of each panel. The grips have minor handling wear with the wood showing through the paint on the points of some checkers, more on the left panel than the right. There are a few light nicks, most notable at the bottom-rear of the left panel. The checkering is well defined, generally sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at some edges. There are some scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches, most notable at the right-rear of the slide and frame. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide to frame fit has little play. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a single 7-round Wilson Combat magazine.

Our Assessment: The most compact of Colt’s 1911-style firearms, the Officer’s model has a shorter barrel than the Commander and a shorter frame than either the Commander or Government model, making it better for concealed carry. This example is an M1991A1 Compact, similar to the standard Officer’s models but with a matte black parkerized finish. Chambered for the powerful .45 ACP cartridge, this would make a potent carry pistol that will conceal well while still packing a punch. The pistol is in about Fine condition with signs of light use, a bright bore with sharp rifling, and strong mechanics. Please see our photos and good luck!
