Markings: The top tang is marked “MODEL. 1876”. The bottom tang is marked “A.UBERTI – ITALY” under the lever and the serial number is marked behind the lever. The top of the barrel is marked “CIMARRON’S REPEATING ARMS. FREDERICKSBURG, TEXAS, U.S.A. / -KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860″ and “1776 Centennial 1886”. The left shoulder of the chamber is marked “CAL. 45-60”. The left side of the barrel is marked with proofs that are partially obscured by the stock. The bottom of the receiver is marked “CAT. 13748” above a proof.

Barrel Length: 28”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into the barrel and also has a set screw. The rear sight is a square notch semi-buckhorn elevator sight dovetailed into the barrel.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are smooth walnut. The forend has a blued nosecap and the buttstock has a straight comb, straight grip, and a blued crescent metal buttplate with a storage compartment. There are some little scuffs, light compressions, a few little dings through the finish, and a couple of little scratches. Some of the most noticeable defects are on the left side of the forend, left side of the wrist, and right side of the butt at the rear. The LOP measures 13” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The buttplate has some oxidation at the heel and toe as well as some marks through the finish. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is and sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are a few little areas of thinning on the edges of the barrel. There are a few scrapes and scratches on the magazine tube, most noticeable on the right side at the front. There are some little areas of discoloration on the receiver. There are some areas of thinning on the receiver, most noticeable at the front. There is standard operational wear. The screw heads are sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The 1876 Centennial Rifle from Uberti is a replica of the Winchester Centennial Rifle, but even better. It has stronger materials and more precise matching to exacting tolerances and specifications. Today’s model is more accurate and stronger for use with modern smokeless and black powder ammunition. True to the originals, the Uberti 1876 Centennial Rifles are chambered in the hard-hitting calibers: .45-60, .45-75, and .50-95, this one is a .45-60. These Uberti rifles are powerful enough to take down North America’s largest big-game animals. The rifle has a 28 inch octagonal barrel, fully adjustable sights, color case-hardened receiver, and a walnut straight stock and forend.
