Markings: The right side of the slide is marked ”COLT GOLD CUP TROPHY MODEL”. The left side of the slide is marked “COLT GOLD CUP / -TROPHY-” and with a trophy cup. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A. / GCT18172”. The barrel is marked “-COLT 45 AUTO N.M.-“.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base pinned to the rear of the slide. The top of the base is marked “CHAMPION”. The top of the slide has a serrated rib for glare reduction.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The installed grips are Ajax two-piece faux-ivory panels with gold colored Colt medallions. The grips have minor handling wear, a few light tool marks at the screw heads and some scattered crazing. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.
Also included is a one-piece checkered black rubber wraparound grip with silver colored Colt medallions. This grip has no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no rips or tears. Overall, this grip is in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is faint operational wear and a few minor marks. There is just a hint of an “idiot mark” under the slide stop, but it is not through the finish. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide to frame fit has barely perceptible play. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a blue plastic Colt box with serial-matching label, an assortment of factory paperwork including manual, the additional grip as described, a replacement recoil spring, and a single 7-round Colt magazine.
Our Assessment: The Gold Cup Trophy is a modern incarnation of the original Gold Cup National Match pistols. In addition to the original features of an adjustable target sight, adjustable trigger, and serrated-rib slide, this pistol was also made with a skeletonized hammer, beavertail grip safety and came with rubber wraparound grips. This example has been outfitted with a set of faux-ivory Ajax grips, but the original grip is also included.
