Markings: The top of the slide is marked with the ASTRA logo. The portion of the barrel visible through the ejection port is marked with a “P” in a bomb proof mark and “7.65 m/m”. The left side of the slide is marked at the rear with a “P” in a bomb proof mark. The top of the slide is marked at the front with the Astra logo and at the rear “UNCETA Y COMPAÑIA / GUERNICA ESPAÑA”. The right side of the slide is marked at the rear with the serial number, “597212”. The left side of the frame behind the left grip panel is marked with an proof house admission proof mark, a Spanish “Ñ” date code, indicating the year of manufacture as 1943, and an Eibar proof mark. The right side of the frame behind the right grip panel is marked with the serial number, “597212”.
Barrel Length: 4 3/4”
Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch that is integral to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood panels. Both panels have a few spots where the checkering is worn down. The outer edges of both panels have intermittent minor nicks. The checkering is otherwise well-defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Very Good-plus condition, as not original to the gun.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 90% of its metal finish. The slide has scattered light nicks and scuffs along with light thinning on some edges. The frontstrap has two more notable nick just below the trigger guard. The grip safety has scattered light spots of surface oxidation. The screw heads are sharp with usable slots and markings are mostly clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Very Good-plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This pistol includes one (1) 6-round magazine.
Our Assessment: This Spanish made Astra 300 dates back to 1943 and was among the few that did not see service with the German Wehrmacht. This example is in overall Very Good-plus condition with much of its original finish remaining, a bright bore and its original magazine. This is a classic Spanish pistol that will be a boon to any serious collection. Good luck and happy bidding!
