Our Assessment: This is a vintage pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 Standard Grade rifle chambered in .30 Gov’t 06 (apart from the name there is no difference from .30-06) and made in 1949. The rifle is in Very Good condition with evidence of dedicated and extended use in the field with the most noteworthy defect being the wear  on the top of the barrel. This is a great rifle in a common cartridge that is ready to test your skills. That said, the Pre-64 Winchesters have high collector interest and this would be a good addition to a Winchester collection, regardless of the intended use! Good luck and happy bidding!
