Markings: The top tang is marked “226745”. The water table is marked with a Rizzini logo and Italian proofs. The bottom of the receiver is marked “CORTONA” in oval over “Prestige”. The trigger plate is marked “MARCHENO made in Italy / inc.Ri.Pa”. The receiver, sideplates, trigger plate and guard have decorative engraving with gold bird and dog scenes on the sideplates, trigger plate and guard.

28 Gauge Barrel Set: The left of the top barrel is marked “KALISPEL-CUSICK, WA – MADE IN ITALY” and at the chamber with “Warning: read your owner’s manual before use / 28 GA. 2″3/4 Chamber”. The left of each barrel has Italian proofs. The bottom of the monoblock is marked with Italian proofs, Rizzini logo, “CB” date code and “226745”, the left is marked “28/70”. The forend iron is marked “226745”.

36 Gauge (.410) Barrel Set: The left of the top barrel is marked “KALISPEL-CUSICK, WA – MADE IN ITALY” and at the chamber with “Warning: read your owner’s manual before use / 410 GA. 3” Chamber”. The left of each barrel has Italian proofs. The bottom of the monoblock is marked with Italian proofs, Rizzini logo, “CB” date code and “07804”, the left is marked “36/76”. The forend iron is marked “07804”.

28 Gauge: Threaded for removable chokes. Technichoke Improved Modified over Improved Cylinder installed, Full, Modified and Cylinder included.

36 Gauge (.410): Fixed Full over Full.

Sights / Optics: Each barrel set has a brass bead at the front of its vent-rib and each rib is finely serrated on top to reduce glare.

.410 Bore: 6 lb., 5.4 oz.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered walnut with Prince of Wales grip, straight comb, solid black rubber Pachmayr buttpad, inlaid initial plate in the belly, and schnabel forend tips. The stocks have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 3/4? from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad, 14? to the back of the wood. A serrated wood Cortona buttplate is also included, it is 3/8″ thick. The Cortona buttplate has no notable wear or damage. Drop at comb measures 1 1/4″ with the 28 gauge barrel installed and 1 3/8? with the .410 barrel, drop at heel measures 2″ with the 28 gauge barrel installed, 2 1/8? with the .410 barrel (the .410 barrels’ rib is slightly taller). Overall, the stocks are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion in the bores.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains approximately 98% of its metal finish. Each barrel set has faint wear from the forends, concealed when installed. There are light handling marks in the barrels and receiver. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun set is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors on each barrel set. The trigger is selected with a switch on the safety slider. The safety does not automatically engage when the action is opened. The action locks up tight with no play with each barrel sets. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Rizzini Cortona Prestige small gauge set is a great example of quality Italian shotguns. From the beautiful case-colored action to its solid lockup, this is a shotgun that will turn some heads at the range with performance to match its looks. The shotgun is in Excellent condition, appearing to have spent more time in its included custom-fit case than out. Perfect for challenging yourself on the skeet range, hunting and other clay sports with the wide variety of chokes included for the 28 gauge, this is a shotgun that can do it all.
