Markings: The barrel is marked “SPORTING / P. BERETTA – MADE IN ITALY / 12 GA. 2 ¾ AND 3 IN. SHOT SHELLS – 28 IN.”. The left hidden portion of the barrel is marked “V29714F”. The bottom of the barrel is marked “O” and “115888”. The right side of the barrel has the warning address. The right protected portion of the barrel is marked “ALLOYED CR. MO. QUENCHED HIGH TENSILE STEEL” and “KG0970 CAM 76 – 18 3” with three proof marks and the “BL” date code. The left side of the receiver is marked “P. Beretta”, “SPORT”, “AL390 GOLD – 12 GA”, and “PATENTED”. The right side of the receiver has the serial number “V62407E”, and “P. Beretta / MADE IN ITALY”. The bottom of the receiver has three Italian proof marks and the “BL” date code. Both sides of the receiver show scroll engraving, the left side shows two gold ducks taking flight, the right side shows a golden fowl.

Barrel Length: 28” Vent Rib

Choke: The barrel is threaded for interchangeable chokes. Currently installed is an Improved Cylinder choke. Also included are three Briley chokes that measure IM, IC, and M. There are also four Beretta chokes that measure M, F, SK, and IC.

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted white plastic bead at the front of the rib. The top of the rib is finely checkered and the top of the receiver is serrated, both for the purpose of reducing glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are very nicely grained and finished checkered wood with a grooved forearm, pistol grip, straight comb, and a beretta buttpad. There is very little to speak of in the way of wear, just a few dispersed tiny marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures approximately 14 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber buttpad. The buttpad shows hardly any wear. The stocks rate in about Fine-Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mirror bright. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows little signs of use. There is the faintest of operational wear. The receiver area is very clean, and the jeweled bolt is also very clean. The screw heads are sharp and undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The previously mentioned choke and an owner’s manual are provided.

Our Assessment: This is one of the great field shotguns. This shotgun uses interchangeable chokes and shoots 3” shells, providing great flexibility.
