Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “.308 Win.” and there are several proofs including the German date code “HI”. The left side of the receiver has a German proof and is marked with the serial number “02507”, “SACO ARL VA 22 209 / HECKLER & KOCH GMBH / OBERNDORF/N MADE IN GERMANY” and “MOD HK 770”. The buttpad is marked ““WHITE LINE”® PAID BY / Pachmayr® XXXXX® / LOS ANGELES, CALIF. MADE IN U.S.A.”

Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a blade on a serrated raised ramp. The rear sight is a dovetailed windage adjustable v notch flip sight. Also included is a detachable H&K factory scope base which is in Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stock is one-piece, checkered wood, has a curved comb, Monte Carlo cheek piece, semi pistol grip with black cap, schnabel forearm and black rubber buttpad. There are some scattered handling marks, scratches and nicks. Notably there are some prominent scratches on the toe by the buttpad and the bottom of the cheekpiece. The checkering is slightly worn with a few flattened checkers but it remains relatively sharp. There are no cracks or chips. The buttpad’s rubber is slightly discolored but has no major defects. The LOP measures 14 3/4” from the trigger to the buttpad. There are two studs, one on the butt and the other by the schnable end. Overall the stock is in Very Good – Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is polygonal. There is no evident erosion.
Overall Condition: The rifle retains about 95% of its finish. The action on the receiver has a scratch from past use. There is are a few minor pinprick sports of oxidation on the top center of the barrel. There is a small scratch on the right side of the barrel adjacent to the front sight. There are also a few scattered scratches on the bottom of the barrel. The screwheads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in about Very Good-Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: A blued magazine and factory scope are included with the rifle as pictured. The magazine is marked “.243” and “.308”. It has just minor handling wear and remains in Excellent condition. The scope bas has been previously used. There is some rounding to the allen screws, but they remain serviceable.
Our Assessment: This H&K model 770 is a really nice semi-auto rifle that takes .308 Winchester ammunition. Everything is where you want it, from the bolt release you can easily reach with your right thumb to the easy to operate magazine release you can actually release with the tip of your right index finger. This is an outstanding choice for hunting and shooting targets. It includes the factory H&K mount with 1” rings that are hard to come by. Goodluck on your bid!
