Markings: The top of the receiver is marked with the Venezuelan crest. The left side of the receiver is marked with 3 Belgian proofs and “FAB.NAT. D’ARMES de GUERRA / HERSTAL-BELGUIQUE”. The right side of the receiver is marked with the serial number. The top of the bolt handle is marked with the serial number. The recoil pad markings include “Old English” and Pachmayr”. The bolt and magazine follower are jeweled.
Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches
Sights / Optics: The sights are in-line express sights. The front sight is a brass beaded blade atop a ramped base. The rear sight sits atop a raised quarter rib. It consists of a stationary leaf with a large “V” notch followed by 3 flip up leaves that are progressively taller.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The custom hardwood stock has a checkered pistol grip, metal grip cap with a door for storage, checkered forearm, dark nose, 2 thought bolts, fluted comb, raised cheek piece, sling stud, and a rubber recoil pad. The recoil pad shows light discoloration. The wood shows a few small scratches and a few small, light compression marks. The LOP measures 14 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The stock rates in about Fine Plus overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild
Bore Condition: The lands are bright and the grooves are semi bright. The grooves near the muzzle are light grey. The rifling is deep. There is fouling in the grooves near the muzzle which should clean up some. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The front of the trigger guard has small marks showing through the new finish. It also shows a few small scratches. The front edge of the magazine floor plate shows 2 small tool marks. The remaining metal shows a few light handling marks. The screw heads show light use. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Custom Safari Rifle started life as a Military contract rifle made for Venezuela by Fabrique Nationale (FN) of Belgium. The rifle has since been transformed into a Safari Rifle chambered in .458 Winchester Magnum. The 24 inch heavy barrel is topped with in-line express sights which should serve you well in the field.
