Markings: The top of the receiver is marked “circled CZ”. The left side of the receiver & barrel shank are each marked with a Czech proof and “46” for 1946. The left side of the receiver is marked  “CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA, A.S., BRNO”. The left side of the barrel shank is marked with the the serial number and the top is marked “8 X 57 S”. The scope is marked “HENSOLDT / WETZLAR” on the cap and “DURALYT 1 ½ x 1393”.

Barrel Length: Approximately 20 ½ Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade atop a ramped base. The rear sight is made up of a stationary “U” notched blade and a flip up “U” notched blade. The top of the receiver has 2 claw mounts dovetailed into it. These hold the tall mounts and scope. The scope uses a tapered post reticle. The glass appears clear and the adjustment knobs turn. The metal shows scrapes & small scratches. The screw heads show use. Overall the scope assembly is in about Very Good Plus condition.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The full length Mannlicher style, hard wood stock shows scrapes, scratches and compression marks which have been oiled over. The LOP measures 14 ½ inches from the face of the front trigger and 13 ¾ inches from the face of the rear trigger, to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The lands are bright, the grooves are semi bright and the rifling is deep. There is frosting in the grooves near the muzzle.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its current metal finish. The barrel and bottom metal. Have been treated with cold blue and show discoloration. The metal shows scuffs, scrapes and small scratches. The screw heads show use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This BRNO Model 22F was made in Czechoslovakia just after WWII. The 22F is considered one of the best factory sporters of all time. It features a butter-knife bolt handle, double-set triggers, and a redesigned left side wing safety that allows for scope clearance. The receiver is topped with European style quick-detach claw mounts and a vintage Hensoldt-Wetzlar Duralyt scope.
