Action Type: Bolt Action with Internal Magazine

Markings: The top of the receiver is marked “FN in an oval”. The right side of the receiver, the right side of the barrel shank and the underside of the bolt handle are all marked with the serial number. The left side of the receiver and barrel shank are marked with Belgian proofs. The left side of the receiver is also marked “FAB. NAT. D’ARMES DE GUERRE-HERSTAL–BELGIQUE”. The left side of the barrel shank is akred “.30-06 CAL.”. The left side of the barrel is marked “CHROME VANADIUM STEEL”. The right side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN BELGIUM”. The top of the bolt handle is marked with a Belgian proof. The butttplate is marked “FN in an oval”. The rear sight is marked with the Lyman logo.

Barrel Length: Approximately 23 ¾ Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade set atop a ramped base and under a removable protective hood. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture. It is marked “0 15 30 60 75” on the right and “0” on the top. The top of the receiver has been drilled, tapped & filled with 2 screws that can be used to secure an optic.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The commercial wood stock shows several scrapes & scratches. Some have damaged small portions of the surface wood.  These marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good Plus overall condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: The lands are bright, the grooves are semi bright and the rifling is deep. There is some fouling and intermittent light erosion in the grooves near the muzzle. The bore shows and M.E. of 0.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 94% of its metal finish as refinished. The barrel and bottom metal have light surface erosion showing through the new finish. These areas show discoloration. The barrel shows scrapes & a few scratches. The remaining metal shows scuffs and light handling marks. The screw heads show light use. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This FN Deluxe Mauser is over 70 years old. It’s metal  has been refinished so it looks pretty good for its age. The rifle’s aperture sight is in good shape and the bore is still strong. This FN is chambered in .30-06 and should be fun out at the range.
