Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number at the breech and “Remington / MODEL 700” at the midsection. The left side of the barrel is marked “REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY INC. ILION, NY 257 WBY MAG”. The left side of the chamber is marked “AH”. The right side of the barrel is marked with inspectors marks at the breech. The bottom of the bolt is matched and marked “5000”.

Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. The top of the receiver is installed with a pair of Leupold-style bases.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is checkered wood with black caps, pistol grip, and a fluted straight comb with a cheekpiece. There are scattered draglines, scuffs, compressions, and scratches. There is some crazing to the finish, most noticeable on the right side at the bolt handle, wrist, and comb. There are spots of dark residue or touched up finish, most noticeable on the wrist and on the sides of the buttstock. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures approximately 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The pad has some light wear from use. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. A muzzle brake has been installed. There are some scuffs and scratches on the chamber ring and rear of the receiver to the sides of the scope base. There are some scuffs and a couple of light scratches on the chamber. There are some oil stains on the bottom metal. There are some light scuffs and small scratches on the barrel, most noticeable toward the front. There is some standard operational wear. There are some scuffs on the bolt handle. There are a few scratches and scrapes on the bottom metal. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good-Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Remington 700 needs no introduction, it has been one of the most popular bolt action rifles in America for decades, seeing use in target shooting, hunting, and in law enforcement and has been produced in just about any caliber and configuration you could think of. This CDL is chambered for the .257 Weatherby Magnum cartridge and has a 26” fluted barrel, stainless finish, and checkered wood stock. This should be a great rifle to take target shooting or hunting and hitting your mark should be no problem once you install your favorite scope. Please see our photos and good luck!
