Stock Configuration & Condition: The installed grips are two-piece checkered black hard rubber grips with “US” in oval at their tops. The left panel has a few nicks along the bottom edge. Otherwise, the grips show no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the original grips are in Fine-plus condition.

Type of Finish: Polished Steel, Fire-Blue Trim (trigger, screws, pins, ejector)

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 96% of its metal finish. There are some nicks and light scraping on the left of the barrel at the muzzle, the left edge of the recoil shield, and around and behind one cylinder flute (this lines up with the other wear when the cylinder is at a particular chamber). There is some minor discoloration on the left of the frame under the cylinder with a couple of spots on the top of the backstrap and the right of the hammer. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Cylinder lockup produces almost no play on each chamber. The trigger is crisp. The cylinder has a removable bushing. The firing pin is tapered and there is a window in the loading gate at the hinge, indicative of Uberti-made parts. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a one-piece hinged-lid cardboard USFA box with black exterior, green interior, serial-matching label, and a brown drawstring USFA bag. The box has minor storage wear, in Fine condition.

Our Assessment: Colt’s Model 1873, the Single Action Army, is the “gun that won the west”, perhaps the most iconic handgun of all time. For nearly 150 years, the gun has been produced in a variety of configurations, finishes and calibers. This revolver is the absolute closest to a Colt you can get without a pony on the side. This USFA is a China Camp model, designed with input from five-time world champion Cowboy Action Shooter Dennis “China Camp” Ming. Chambered for the classic .45 Colt cartridge, it is in Fine-plus condition, appearing to have spent more time in its serial-matching USFA box than out. This gorgeous revolver will make a great addition to any collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
