Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “READ OWNERS MANUAL BEFORE USING GUN/ FRANCHI S.P.A. – BRESCIA – MADE IN ITALY/ 20 GA. 2 ¾” – FOR 2 ¾” SHELLS”. The left side of the receiver is marked “IMPORTED BY BENELLI USA Corp.”, serial number “05-03-E04289-02”, and is also marked “Accokeek (Md) – Made in ITALY/ Franchi”. The right side of the barrel is marked “IMPORTED BY BENELLI USA Corp./ ACCOKEEK (MD) MADE IN ITALY/ MOD. 48 AL”. The right side of the receiver is marked “48 AL 20 DELUXE/ Franchi s.p.a. Brescia ITALY/ Franchi”. Next to the loading port are three symbols which are faded. The buttpad is marked “Franchi”.

Choke: The shotgun is threaded for chokes. Included are 3x flush chokes and 2x extended. Flush chokes are: lead * full, lead Improved Cylinder / Stell Improved Modified, and the lead Modified / steel * Full. The 2x Extended chokes are Briley Ber/Benx20 Full, Briley Ber/ben20 IC.
Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a brass bead at the muzzle on a ventilated rib and the receiver is serrated to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are wood with a checkered finish. There is no notable wear outside of assembly and light use. There are no cracks or significant damage. The LOP measures 14 1/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The buttpad is free of major defects. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear from storage and past use, but there are no significant marks. The screw heads are tight and unmarred. The markings are clear with the exception of the proof marks next to the loading port which are soft. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included are 3x flush chokes and 2x extended. Flush chokes are: lead * full, lead Improved Cylinder / Stell Improved Modified, and the lead Modified / steel * Full. The 2x Extended chokes are Briley Ber/Benx20 Full, Briley Ber/ben20 IC. This Franchi also comes with a factory box which is in excellent condition. Styrofoam inserts for the shotgun and its accessories are also included and in Very Good condition. There are also a choke tube wrench. Paperwork includes: instructions, warranty registration certificate, shotgun warnings manual, and internal choke tube guide, all in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: The Franchi AL-48, originally produced in 1948, is a popular 20 gauge shotgun. The shotgun features a number of accessories which make it quite versatile depending on the user’s needs. It is perfect for hunting, shooting clay birds among other uses.
