Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “COLT MARK IV/SERIES ’80 / GOVERNMENT MODEL – 380 AUTO” and with the Rampant Colt logo, the right is marked “GOVERNMENT MODEL”. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.”. The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number. The barrel is marked “CAL. 380”. The left of the trigger guard is marked with “VP” in triangle at the rear and “4” at the front, the right is marked “S”.

Sights / Optics: The pistol is mounted with a square notched rear sight dovetailed into the slide and a short ramped blade front sight integral to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered white plastic with Rampant Colt medallions. The grips have scattered light marks and handling wear with strong checkering. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Nickel, Polished Flats and Matte Rounds

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are light handling marks and a few little draglines and swirl marks on the polished portions. The grip screws are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a total of one 7-round magazine with light operational wear, a strong spring and intact feed lips, in about Fine-Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This is an exceptionally nice Colt Series 80 .380 Government Model single-action pistol that obviously hasn’t seen much use. It is in about Excellent condition with about 98% of its finish remaining. It is a relatively small pistol and just about perfect for concealed carry. We are old school and like the idea of being able to carry a pistol cocked and locked for a single action trigger pull on the first shot instead of the mushy trigger pulls required for some of the small plastic pistols being made today. Also, with its all steel frame and slide, it will easily absorb the recoil of the hottest .380 A.C.P. rounds. Although the .380 Government Model is an ideal carry gun, it is no longer being made, and this always makes the collectors take notice. With the nice finish on this pistol, we think the collectors are going to outbid the shooters. Please see our photos and good luck!
