Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number at the breech and “Remington / MODEL 700” at the midsection. The left side of the barrel is marked “280 Imp” at the chamber. The bottom of the bolt is matched and hand-marked “7400” and the rear piece of the bolt is marked “00” by hand.

Sights / Optics: There are no iron sights. The top of the receiver is installed with a pair of base and rings holding a Leupold VARI-X III 3.5-10×50 scope. The scope has some light handling marks. The scope has a duplex reticle and the glass is clear, the scope rates in about Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece textured camouflage Mcmillan with sling studs front and rear, pistol grip, monte carlo comb, and a black rubber buttpad. There are a few scuffs and draglines scattered over the stock. The texturing on the pistol grip and forend is strong. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The pad shows light wear and is pliable. The stock rates in about Fine-Plus overall condition.
Type of Finish: Matte Blued with Stainless Barrel
Finish Originality: Original to Components, the barrel is not original.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is a little wear on the bolt handle. There are some spots of thinning on the matte blued receiver, most noticeable on the left. There is a little streak of finish loss on the left of the receiver just above the stock line. There is standard operational wear. The markings are clear. The screw sockets are strong. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger has been upgraded and the action has been blue printed and bedded in the stock. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Remington 700 needs no introduction, it has been one of the most popular bolt action rifles in America for decades, seeing use in target shooting, hunting, and in law enforcement and has been produced in just about any caliber and configuration you could think of. This one has been blueprinted and upgraded by Dan Dowling for superior performance. This 700 has been rebarreled with a 26″ Shilen barrel chambered for .280 Ackley Improved, been set in a McMillan stock, and has a blued and stainless finish. This one has had nice custom modifications done further enhancing is performance potential and hitting your mark should be no problem with the included Leupold scope.
