Markings: The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. RIFLE M1A / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / 150887”. The top of the bolt is marked “7790186-SA / F00073”. The oprod is marked “7267064-2 / SA”. The left side of the shank is marked “SPRINGFIELD INC. / GENESEO IL. .308”. The underside flat of the receiver is marked “1520” The rear face of the bolt is marked “D M6”. The left inside of the stock is marked “D-3741 / GB-4 / DT” and “4L2”. The right inside of the stock is marked “D-3742”, “GB-4 / DT”, and “42 / R”. The left side of the trigger housing is marked “7267030-I”.

Sights / Optics: The rear sight is a fully-adjustable aperture set between protective ears, the face of the right knob is marked “LEFT” twice between alternating curved arrows and “SA” underneath one of the curved arrows. The body of the left knob is marked with numbers 2-11 with an “S” and an “A” between eight and ten and an “M” between ten and eleven. There is a threaded mounting point integral to the left of the receiver for a side mounted rail for an optical sight. The front sight is a blade set between two protective ears that is dovetailed and screw set to a base which is integral to the installed muzzle brake. The top of the barrel is equipped with a picatinny rail for a long eye relief scope (not included).

Stock Configuration & Condition: The checkered synthetic camouflage pattern stock features a pistol grip, a straight comb, a steel buttplate with a storage compartment and flip-up shoulder rest, and the factory sling swivel at the bottom of the forend and a fixed sling swivel at the rear. The stock shows some finish loss on the bottom left near the trigger housing metal. There are few other scattered light nicks through the finish on the belly. The LOP measures approximately 13 1/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The pad shows no notable wear. Overall this stock rates in about Fine-Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is some light thinning at some of the leading edges. There are some scattered light marks and faint operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp and clear. Overall, the rifle is in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a myriad of goodies including a total of five (5) 10-round magazines, a cleaning kit, two ratchet chamber brushes, a pair of castle nut pliers, a bolt roller greaser, a service rifle solvent port, a castle nut, and a pro spring kit. Three of the magazines are in sealed plastic in Excellent condition and the other two show faint operational wear, in about Fine-Excellent condition. All other accessories and tools rate in Fine to Excellent overall condition.

Our Assessment: It is apparent at first glance that this rifle has seen little use. The rifle features a camo-patterned stock giving it an attractive appearance. It also comes with a total of five 10-round magazines and maintenance supplies and tools to keep it working like new. The highest bidder would be lucky to take this home.
